PERMISSION OF THE EDUCATION & MANPOWER DEPT. OF HONG KONG
In response of our request, the Education and Manpower
Department of Hong Kong
SAR granted us permission to hold tutorial classes in the
Secondary School in West Kowloon w. e. f Sept.. 2001. We are
pleased to state here that tutorial classes for the Secondary
School are being run successfully here since Sept. 2001. While
for primary classes of SEKPS, the coaching is being imparted at
the Gurdwara Sahib,
for secondary classes it is at the school premises after school
hours.
EXTENSION OF TUTORIAL CLASSES FOR STUDENTS OF OTHER
COMMUNITIES.
In the beginning we had in our mind to help the Indian children
only, but we were approached by the School Management to extend
these facilities to children of other communities. Keeping in
view that there were not enough children of Indian communities
and we could accommodate some students of other communities, we
opened our doors to students of all communities irrespective of
caste, creed, color of nationality. This is strictly in line
with the message of our Guru i.e. No Ko Bairi Nahin Begana
meaning “there is non of my enemies and non is stranger.”As
such, now besides Indian students, there are students from
Pakistan, Nepal, Phillipine, Korea Venzulenese etc. who are
taking advantage of most subsidized tutorial
classes.
IMPROVEMENT IN THE RESULTS
Significant improvement has been noticed in the results of the
students who are attending these tutorial classes. All our
tutorial teachers are Post Graduate and dedicated. They are
always willing to help them even by devoting extra time.
STUDENTS OF THE TRUST HAVE JOINED COLLEGES.
As stated above, one of the objective of the trust is to
encourage them to go for college and university education. We
are glad to state here that about 12 of our students have joined
Form 6 in Rosery Hill College,in year 2003. It will always be
our endeavor to encourage future high school graduates to go for
higher education either in Hong Kong or abroad. We have been
offering scholarship and or loans to the deserving candidates.
SIR ELLIS KADORIE PRIMARY SCHOOL, SUKUNPOO.
We have observed that some of the students in the secondary
school, are not able to cope up with the main subjects like Math
and Science. The reason being their weakness in Primary level.
We have observed that in case we can catch them young i.e. if we
could help them at Primary level, they would be better of , in
their secondary schooling. So we requested the management of Sir
Ellis Kadoorie Primary School, sukunpoo, to allow them start
classes there. After some clarifications, the have allowed us to
hold such classes since Dec. 2003. For the time being they have
allowed only once in week i.e. on Saturday from 9.00AM to 10.30
AM. Significant improvement has been noticed in the students
since then. HERE TOO WE HAVE ALLOWED STUDENTS FROM ALL
COMMUNITIES. Very nominal amount of HKD 12 per hour is being
charged from the students. Since this school is a feeder school
for the SEK secondary school, we are confident, these students
would perform better at secondary level.
LI CHENG UK GOVT. PRIMARY P.M. SCHOOL, SHAMSHUIPO, KOWLOON.
During the last few years, most of our Indians especially
Sikh families have been allocated subsidized houses by the H. K.
Govt. Most of these houses are in New
Territories, far away from the earlier school nick named as
Indian School i.e.
Sir Ellis Kadoorie School, Sukupoo, Causeway Hong Kong. As such
parents have decided to send their school to the above school
which is much nearer and currently at this school, there quite
good number of Indian and Pakistani students. Since this school
is also a feeder school for the Sir Ellis Kadoorie Sec.School,
West Kowloon, we thought of starting tutorial classes at this
school also, so that the students could be well prepared when
they join secondary school. After negotiations spreading over 2
years, we could convince the management and classes have now
started w.e.f Feb.2004. Currently over 55 students are taking
advantage of these classes, where a very nominal fee of HKD 12
per hour is charged from the students. HERE ALSO WE HAVE ALLOWED
STUDENTS FROM ALL COMMUNITIES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE. The classes are
from Primary 1 to Primary 6.
