Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Educational Trust
TUTORIAL CLASSES FOR THE ENGLISH FOUNDATION SCHOOLS.
At the request of some students of the Punjabi community
studying in English School foundation school, the tutorial
classes have been started. The students are being helped in the
main subjects like Math and Science. We wish this facility to be
extended to the students of other communities also w. e. f next
academic year.
COMPUTER CLASSES.
During summer holidays, we encourage the students to join
computer classes at Gurdwara Sahib. However, we have observed
that there is quite response from the housewives also. There are
few ladies who have come to Hong Kong recently due to their
marriage with Hong Kong bridgrooms. They too expressed interest
in computer training and they have been well trained in the
computer by Mr. Sharnjit Singh, a devoted all rounder. During
the last 2 years more than 3 batches have successfully received
training in computer and have been awarded certificates also.
SCHOLORSHIP FOR NON SIKH (RAJPUT) CANDIDATE FOR STUDY AT
OXFORD UNIVERSITY.
We were approached by Mr. James of the South Island school
for financial help for one Indian (Non Sikh- Rajput ) candidate
who had brilliant record. The candidate was selected by the
Oxford University but had no resources to study there. The
trustees thought this case of worthy of help and promised to
grant scholarship of British Pound 10,000.00 spread over in 3
years. We are glad that 1/3 of the amount has already been paid
and the candidate has already started studies at Oxford
university.
KIRTAN DARBAR.
While imparting the academic knowledge to the students, care
has been taken that they should be conversant with the golden
principles of Sikhism. To keep them attached to the Sikhism,
Kirtan Darbars were held at the Gurdwara Sahib where children
were encouraged to perform all the ceremonies. These would start
from Rehras Sahib, ardaas, kirtan and stage organization. A
remarkable improvement and confidence has been found in these
students. Some of these students can recite kirtan almost
equivalent to the professional Ragis. Thanks for the efforts of
Mr. Sharnjit Singh, Bibi Surachana and Gianiji. Usually after
the program, the children were awarded prizes. We are thankful
to the management of the Khalsa Diwan for their co-operation.
DRAWINGS AND PAINTINGS.
Due to the initiative of Mrs. Surachna, children have shown
great interest in drawing.
Around the birthday of Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji,
competition among the students are held, who usually draw the
photos of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and other gurus and winners are
awarded prizes on the stage of Gurdwara Sahib. To not to
discourage any participant, consolation prizes are given to them
also. These drawings are exhibited in the premises of the
Gurdwara Sahib and are appreciated by the Sadh Sangat.

them full freedom during the day time to play various games,

given notes on the important aspects of Sikh History, The
particpants were awarded prizes. This program too was very much
appreciated and liked by everyone present there.
The program was so much liked by the students that 3 of them
immediately decided not to cut their hair in future. They were
